Best Bars in Seremban: Where to Drink and What to Pour at Home

Modern shoplots with glowing shopfronts on a quiet street at dusk

Most of the Seremban bars we could source sit in Seremban 2, with one out in Sendayan, part of where Malaysia drinks beyond KL. For a night in, gin is the popular choice with our Seremban customers, led by Suntory Roku and Hendrick’s.

This guide covers three Seremban bars we could confirm, lists more names from a directory, then adds the bottles for the evening back home. It follows our Melaka and Johor Bahru guides, Best Bars in Melaka and Where Johor Bahru Drinks. Our sources run thin in places and we say so, and every bottle suggestion is our own.

Key Takeaways

  • Bombay Bar and Restaurant in Sendayan is described by two pages, and El Dinos in Seremban 2 by one page plus a directory address.
  • The Twilight has one source, and a directory names six more bars, so check every venue before you go.
  • Two gins top the popular choices with our Seremban customers: Suntory Roku Gin [700ML] and Hendrick’s Gin [1000ML], then Jameson Triple Distilled Irish Whisky [1000ML].
  • Seremban orders go by Standard Delivery: RM30 flat rate, 2 to 5 working days, free above RM1,250 within Peninsular Malaysia.
  • Every bottle is genuine, and please arrange a driver if you are drinking.

What to Know Before You Go Out in Seremban

Open blank notebook with a pen and a cup of coffee on a wooden table

Seremban’s bar scene is small, and a lot of what you find online is thin or out of date. We went through Beer Asia’s Southern Malaysia beer guide, a Free Malaysia Today feature, an Evendo listing and a Seremban nightlife directory, and kept the three bars below because we could confirm them from a readable source. A few more names turn up only in directories, so we list those further down in a short section of their own without describing them, because there is not enough behind them yet. Opening hours change, so check a bar’s own page or give them a call before you set out. If you would rather stay in, the bottles section near the end of this guide covers what to pour at home.

Three Seremban Bars We Could Verify

Here are the three, starting with the one with the most behind it.

Bombay Bar and Restaurant

Bombay Bar and Restaurant tops the list because two sources describe it. Beer Asia places it at Merchant Square in Bandar Sri Sendayan, on the easternmost outskirts of Seremban 2, and calls the pairing of banana leaf meals with beer “a rarity”, with Heineken, Tiger or Guinness served alongside dishes such as lamb mutton or vegetarian thali.

Free Malaysia Today, in December 2022, described a full-fledged bar with draught beers, cocktails and a gin-based Tom Collins, plus South Indian banana leaf meals at lunch, and reported it as the first of its kind in Seremban. The two pages disagree on opening hours, so confirm before you drive out. A Seremban 2 spot comes next.

El Dinos Bar and Restaurant

El Dinos Bar and Restaurant is at 97 and 98, Jalan S2 D32, Seremban 2. Beer Asia calls it a “quaint neighbourhood establishment” and a sports bar “known for its briyani and beer”, with cocktails and regional dishes as well. A Seremban nightlife directory lists the same address, which gives us two pages that agree on where it is.

That is all we could confirm, so there are no hours and no ratings here, and we will not describe the room or the crowd. If a sports bar with food is what you want, this is the name to look up first. The next name sits on Uptown Avenue and rests on a single page, so it ranks lower.

The Twilight

The Twilight is at No. 248, Jalan S2 B12, Uptown Avenue, Seremban 2. Evendo says it offers “a unique bar experience with a relaxed atmosphere” and “local and international drinks”, and its tips suggest coming during happy hour and arriving early because it can get busy.

That is one source only, so treat The Twilight as a lead rather than a recommendation, and check its details before you go. Happy hour terms, if any, are something to ask the bar directly. Beyond these three, a directory names several more places, and they come next.

The Other Names a Directory Lists

Empty cafe table with two chairs and a small lamp beside a window at night

The same Seremban nightlife directory, which carries no date, lists Joker 7 Restaurant and Bar at 168, Jalan S2 B3, and Cheers Lounge at 135-G, Jalan S2 B4, both in Seremban 2. It also lists The Loft Dine and Drink at 210, Jalan S2 B11, on Uptown Avenue. Joker 7 also appears as a Tripadvisor listing in Google results.

The directory also lists Soda Pot Cafe and Bistro at 317, Jalan Haruan 5/7, in Oakland Commercial Centre, which also has its own Instagram page, and Valley in Cafe and Bar at 60, Jalan MSJ 3, in Medan Senawang Jaya. In Bandar Seremban it lists Nam Keow Bar at 62, Jalan Dato Bandar Tunggal.

We give names and addresses only. The directory’s descriptions repeat the same sentence for almost every venue, so they tell us nothing about any one bar, and we will not borrow its star ratings as if they were a review. Treat these as places to look up, not places we vouch for, because directory listings go stale. Knowing the names is half of it, and the other half is knowing which part of town to head for.

Seremban 2, Sendayan or Bandar Seremban?

Commuter train waiting at an empty covered platform at dusk

Most of the venues we could name sit in Seremban 2. According to Wikipedia, it is a planned satellite township about 4 km south-east of the old town centre. The listed addresses starting with Jalan S2 place El Dinos, The Twilight, Joker 7, Cheers Lounge and The Loft in that same township.

Bombay Bar sits further out, in Bandar Sri Sendayan, and Soda Pot is in Oakland Commercial Centre. Valley in Cafe and Bar is out at Senawang Jaya, and Nam Keow Bar is in Bandar Seremban. Wikipedia says Seremban railway station is the southern terminal of the KTM Komuter network and a stop on the Kuala Lumpur to Singapore line, but we found no source for how to reach Seremban 2 from the station, so plan your ride before you travel.

So our suggestion is to pick one area per night, since the venues are spread out. If you want a banana leaf meal with your beer, Sendayan is where the sources point. Whichever you choose, arrange a driver or a ride, because we would rather you get home safely. Before the first drink, though, Seremban has some bites worth planning around.

Seremban Bites Before the First Drink

Bamboo basket of baked siew pau buns on a table

Wikipedia’s entry on Seremban names siew pau, a baked version of cha siu bao filled with barbecued meat, and a beef noodle dish with a thick, slick gravy and a peppery, sticky sauce. It also notes that many restaurants along Jalan Tuanku Munawir serve baked crabs, and that yee sang is said to have originated in the city.

We stay with what the sources say and do not name a single stall, because we could not confirm one, and a name that has moved or closed does more harm than a gap. What the list gives you is the shape of a good Seremban evening: something baked or steamed, a plate of noodles, and crab if you are with a group. If you are planning an evening, eating first is a steady habit, and it sets up the pour at home too. When the night ends back at your place, these are the bottles our Seremban customers order most.

What to Pour at Home in Seremban

These are popular choices with our Seremban customers: two gins, Suntory Roku Gin [700ML] and Hendrick’s Gin [1000ML], with Jameson Triple Distilled Irish Whisky [1000ML] close behind.

Suntory Roku Gin [700ML]

Roku is the Japanese gin on this list. It is made with 14 botanicals, six of them Japanese, and our product page suggests it chilled in a martini or with tonic.

Suntory Roku Gin [700ML]

Suntory Roku Gin [700ML] is RM140 and 43% ABV. Our product page lists sakura flower, sencha tea, yuzu peel and sanshō pepper among the botanicals, and suggests serving it chilled in a martini or with premium tonic and a yuzu garnish. It is a gin our team points customers to when they want a Japanese twist on the usual G&T.

Tasting Notes: Suntory Roku Gin

Nose: Cherry blossom.

Palate: Leafy green tea and bergamot.

Finish: Peppery juniper.

Hendrick’s Gin [1000ML]

Hendrick’s is the other gin that Seremban customers order most often. It is the cucumber-and-rose gin on this list, and the 1000ML bottle is the larger size. It is a handy bottle to own if you already keep Scotch at home and want one gin that goes with it.

Hendrick’s Gin [1000ML]

Hendrick’s Gin [1000ML] is RM195 and 40% ABV. It is made by William Grant and Sons with rose petals and cucumber among its eleven botanicals. Our page suggests a balloon glass with a cucumber ribbon, or a G&T, and pairs it with light Malaysian seafood. If you want the full range, see our Hendrick’s brand page.

Tasting Notes: Hendrick’s Gin

Nose: White flowers and citrus.

Palate: Crisp cucumber and rose.

Finish: Dry and refreshing, with balsamic herbs.

Jameson Triple Distilled Irish Whisky [1000ML]

If the evening calls for whisky, the third popular choice is an Irish whiskey. Jameson Triple Distilled is made from pot still and grain whiskey, triple distilled and aged for a minimum of four years in oak.

Jameson Triple Distilled Irish Whisky [1000ML]

Jameson Triple Distilled Irish Whisky [1000ML] is RM146, an Irish whiskey that is triple distilled and aged for a minimum of four years in oak. For more whisky at other budgets, our blended whisky picks under RM500 are a good place to compare. Shiok to have a gin and a whisky both ready at home.

Tasting Notes: Jameson Triple Distilled Irish Whisky

Nose: A light floral fragrance peppered with spicy wood and sweet notes.

Palate: The perfect balance of spicy, nutty and vanilla notes with hints of sweet sherry and exceptional smoothness.

Finish: Smooth and mellow.

Between a Japanese gin, a cucumber-and-rose gin and an easy single malt, you have a bottle for most evenings at home. To see the bars and the bottles side by side, the next chart puts them in one place.
